Vintage 2017

2017 a more than exciting vintage for winemakers. Late Frost events in Spring held us in suspense but they did not turn out as catastrophic as the year before. This was mostly thanks to all the winemaking families of Gols who joined together fighting frost with smoke. After that the year was much less eventful and much more dominated by a dry and hot summer. It led to fully ripe grapes and a great harvest season during summerly September and October days. Young and fresh wines had to be picked early, later there was enough time for fully ripe red wines. Yield was about average with good qualities overall. Looking back, we can be quite satisfied with the 2017 vintage, despite its cool start.
